There’s Always Light in Darkness

This Bible verse has gotten me through a lot in life. It’s been a great reminder in times of hardship and uncertainty. It also reminds me of a book I keep on my nightstand table, having it close to re-read whenever I need it.

The Shack by William P. Young is remarkable. There’s no other way to put it. It sheds light on a new perspective in relationships with the Holy Trinity. It teaches lessons of forgiveness, re-building relationships, and finding our calling in life. This book has changed my perspective not only in my relationship with God, but in my day to day relationships as well.

I highly recommend this book to anyone. Everyone needs to read it. Whether you’re in a rough place, need a refreshing view on Christ, or just looking for your next good read, this book is it. My copy is well worn and annoyed to the max, showing just how much I rely on this book. It’s become a staple cornerstone in my faith, and I hope, if you choose to read it, it does the same for you.

How does this book tie into this verse? I’ll try to tell you without giving too much away. The main character, Mackenzie Phillips, goes through a journey of grief and forgiveness after his daughter was kidnapped and found dead. Years later, he receives a letter in his mailbox, addressed from Papa, the name which his wife uses to refer to God, asking Mack to meet him in the same shack which his daughter was found. The rest of the story? Well…I’ll that up to you to find out.
