Letter From The Writer

Hey Y’all!

Welcome to Peach and Grace! (a.k.a. what goes on in my brain!) My name is Georgia Kemmett and I’m looking to inspire others by sharing my thoughts, stories, and philosophies. I was born and raised in Carrizo Springs, TX, population 5,600. As a small town girl, my childhood was filled with south Texas hospitality, deep-rooted faith, and family traditions. I’m proud of my southern roots and I apologize in advance if I use y’all a bit too much…it’s automatic at this point.

When COVID sent the world into lockdown, I spent a lot of my newfound spare time revisiting my favorite childhood activities: reading, writing, and reflection. As I grew older, my time spent with these three topics were dedicated strictly to school, losing sight that I once found immense joy in recreational participation. So, after some more reflection, I decided to set a goal of continuing to pursue these loves and turn them into a way to help others.

The next step was easy. I knew that Peach and Grace would be an immediate name for my new blog. Why? It carries two of my favorite life philosophies along with being a fun twist on my name, Georgia Grace. Originally a play on my first name, peach has a lesser known definition that has become sort of a life statement for me. Tying into my mother’s famous “it doesn’t cost a penny to be kind” mindset, the word has become a symbol for my mission to spread awareness to the outreach and positivity that kindness can carry. Moving onto grace… Growing up, Grace was always just my middle name, nothing really special. As I matured, the complexity and lifestyle of the word became more apparent. There’s always the basic definition: simple elegance or refinement; an attractively polite manner of behaving. Yet, it is the more spiritual version that I like best: the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings. When I discovered that grace has multiple meanings, I instantly knew the one pertaining to spirituality was my favorite as it’s the hardest to achieve. You can always easily be a person with grace, but you have to work to become a person of grace. Living with grace can make us classy, but living through grace makes a person unforgettable.

After solidifying a name, numerous website productions, and countless logo rough drafts, Peach and Grace was officially on the verge of publication. The only thing stopping me was what in the world was I going to write about? Following even more consideration, I decided to stick with what I know: my life!

Currently a freshman at Ole Miss, I’m soaking up every minute of life possible! I love to live in the moment, so with a completely new chapter ahead of me, it only makes sense to enjoy it. As an older sister, I want to be the best role model possible for Greer, my younger sister and best friend. Despite the fact that we’re as different as night and day, I want to show her that no matter the situation, you always need to make the most out of life. To sum it up: there’s never a dull moment when we’re together. Along with our two dogs, Gauge and Ginger, we like to think we can conquer the world.

Another major philosophy of mine is “work hard play hard”; so, I take my limited free time very seriously. Whether it’s with my nose in a book or an evening spent with my family, I make sure to spend some time away from my work, relaxing and de-stressing. As I mentioned earlier, writing is one of my passions, yet it is not the only one. I’m a HUGE music lover. Although I’m not musically talented, I have learned from my father that good music requires appreciation. You’ll often find us in the car with the speakers cranked up to some random radio station, soaking in the lyrics. Here’s some advice…if you really want to know a person, take a look in their music library.

Additionally, sports have also always played a major part in my life. Growing up, soccer was my main passion and as I grew older I found love in golf and lacrosse as well. While I no longer play the sports that brought me great joy, I look back and realize that it is the lessons that I’ve learned around the sports that intrigues me the most. I’ve realized that most of my character has developed from the sports world, and perhaps that’s what is driving me to continue to pursue a path in sports. Currently, I hope to become a force within the collegiate and professional sports world, advocating for the lesser valued moments around and on the pitch.

As I continue to publish and you continue to read, I hope this little backstory on myself and my platform helps you keep in mind the main reasoning behind Peach and Grace. I’m not here to be a life coach or force you to believe in my philosophies and ideas; I simply just want to make the world a better place, even if it’s just a small impact.

Love and Blessings,
